Today Clatsop County is one of nine Home Rule counties in Oregon. Five non-partisan elected Commissioners set policy and appoint a full-time County Manager, who is responsible for daily operations. County services are provided through these departments: County Administration (County Manager), Assessment and Taxation, Budget and Finance, County Clerk, Juvenile, Public Health, Public Works, Community Development, the District Attorney, and Sheriff’s Offices. The county also administers a road district, a rural law enforcement district, and a local sewer district.
The Position
Under the direction of the Community Development Director, the Building Official will provide leadership and administration of the Building Codes Division, ensure the consistent application and enforcement of state and county building regulations to protect public health, safety, and welfare and to support compliant development within the community.
As the Building Official, you will supervise, plan, and coordinate inspection and administrative support activities. You will be responsible for compliance of plan reviews, construction permitting, inspections, and building code enforcement for new construction and the alteration and repair of existing structures.
