PAY AND BENEFITS

Hourly Pay Range:   $40.307919 - $50.869556

Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on a candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position.

This is a full time County position represented by AFSCME.

JOB DETAILS AND QUALIFICATIONS

We are searching for a Structural/Mechanical Inspector to join our team at the Clackamas County Department of Transportation & Development. If selected for this position, you will be joining the Building Codes Division, a team responsible for administering the State of Oregon building, mechanical, fire alarm, sprinklers, and Clackamas County ordinances and regulations.

Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*

  • Certification Requirements (Note: Proof of possession of required certifications will be confirmed prior to the final offer of employment is extended to the selected candidate. Out-of-state applicants should consult the State of Oregon website at http://www.oregon.gov/BCD/pages/index.aspx regarding reciprocity requirements.):
    • Oregon Inspector Certification (OIC) ~ANDat least one of the following three certification sets:
      1. State of Oregon Certifications:
        • A-level Structural Inspector (SIA)
        • A-level Mechanical Inspector (MIA)
        • Residential Structural Inspector (CAS)
      2. International Code Council Certifications(Please note: To use International Code Council (ICC) certifications you must be able to provide documentation showing the appropriate experience as outlined by the Oregon State Building Codes Division in order to convert these certifications to Oregon Certifications, or be registered to take the necessary Oregon State Building Codes Division training class in order to convert the ICC certifications, within six (6) months of hire, to Oregon Certifications.)
        • ICC Commercial Building Inspector (B2)
        • ICC Residential Building Inspector (B1)
        • ICC Commercial Mechanical Inspector (M2)
      3. State of Oregon Legacy Certifications:
        • A-level Structural Inspector
        • A-level Mechanical Inspector
        • 1 and 2 Family Structural Inspector
        • 1 and 2 Family Mechanical Inspector
  • Experience providing excellent customer service to the public as well as to other external and internal stakeholders within various levels of an organization

Preferred Special Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*

  • Experience as a structural and mechanical inspector within a jurisdictional setting
  • Experience conducting building and mechanical inspections, and writing clear and accurate inspection reports
  • Completion of a recognized building inspection program, where building and mechanical code classes, inspection classes and training, and plan review were an integral part of the program
  • Experience using Accela Automation or similar permitting software
  • At least two (2) years of experience working in the construction industry 
  • State of Oregon Fire and Life Safety Plans Examiner certification (PEF) or International Code Council (ICC) Fire Plans Examiner certification (F3)
  • State of Oregon A-level Structural Plans Examiner certification (PEA) or International Code Council (ICC) Building Plans Examiner certification (B3)
  • State of Oregon Residential Plans Examiner certification (CAXS) or International Code Council (ICC) Residential Building Inspector certification (B1)

Pre-employment Requirements:*

  • Driving is required for County business on a regular basis or to accomplish work. Incumbents must possess a valid driver's license, and possess and maintain an acceptable driving record throughout the course of employment.  

 

WORK SCHEDULE

This position works 40 hours during a standard workweek of Monday through Friday.
