The City of Seaside Community Development Department is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented professional to join our team of public-service champions. 💼 What You'll Do

  • Review, process, and track building, mechanical, and plumbing permits 🏘️
  • Provide friendly, informed customer service to residents, builders, and developers 🤝
  • Maintain detailed records and ensure compliance with Oregon Administrative Rules and local ordinances 📑
  • Assist with plan reviews, inspections, and code-enforcement follow-up 🔍
  • Collaborate with planners, inspectors, and contractors to keep Seaside's projects moving efficiently 🚧

🎓 What We're Looking For

  • A self-starter with strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, codes, and regulations
  • Experience in permitting, planning, construction, or a related field preferred
  • Valid driver's license and a willingness to earn Permit Technician and Oregon Inspector Certifications within 12 months (we help you get there!)

💰 Pay & Benefits

  • This full-time role falls within pay grades G40 – G42, ranging from $31.14 – $41.72 per hour ($5,397 – $7,232 monthly). Enjoy excellent benefits - medical, dental, vision, PERS-equivalent retirement (after 6 months), paid vacation, sick leave, four floating holidays, and your birthday off! 🎉
  • The employee portion of the medical premium represents approximately 7.5% of the premium cost ($65.34 to $188.91 per month – depending on coverage level). The City of Seaside pays the remaining 92.5% of the premium cost. Full-time employees become eligible for the City's retirement plan after six months of employment.
