We are searching for a Combination Inspector (Residential Electrical, Residential Plumbing, & Structural/Mechanical) to join our team at the Clackamas County Department of Transportation & Development. If selected for this position, you will be joining the Building Codes team responsible for administering the State of Oregon building, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and related codes, and Clackamas County ordinances and regulations. This is a unique opportunity as we are planning to hire one (1) Combination Inspector now and use the eligibility register that will be established as a result of this Recruitment & Selection process to fill future vacancies.

If selected for this Combination Inspector position, you will independently perform field inspection work that requires making responsible decisions and using strong knowledge and sound judgment as in the interpretation and application of relevant State of Oregon structural, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, building, and manufactured dwelling codes, regulations, and standards. Additionally, you will be involved in the investigation of code violations and special inspection assignments as needed.

Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*

  • Certification Requirements 

The following certifications are required at the time of hire (Note: Proof of possession of required certifications will be confirmed prior to the final offer of employment is extended to the selected candidate):

  • Oregon Inspector Certification (OIC) 

~AND~ 

  • The following State of Oregon certifications: 

Structural/Mechanical Inspector

  • Residential Structural Inspector (CAS) 
  • Structural Inspector A-Level (SIA) 
  • Mechanical Inspector A-Level (MIA) 

Plumbing Inspector:

  • Residential Plumbing Inspector (CAP) 

Electrical Inspector:

  • Residential Electrical Inspector (CAE)
  • Experience Requirement:
  • Experience providing customer service to the public as well as to other external and internal stakeholders within various levels of organization

Preferred Special Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*

  • Specialized Electrical Inspector (SEI) Certification, issued by the State of Oregon  
  • Specialized Plumbing Inspector (SPI) Certification, issued by the State of Oregon 
  • Experience as a certified Electrical Inspector 
  • Experience as a certified Plumbing Inspector 
  • Experience as a certified Structural/Mechanical Inspector 

Pre-employment Requirements:
