Inspector
Washington County's Department of Land Use and Transportation (LUT) is currently recruiting for a Structural Inspector I/II to join the Building and Development Services team!

The Position
The Structural Inspector I/II performs inspections of all types of commercial, industrial, public, and residential buildings throughout the construction phase for code compliance.

LUT is accepting applications for candidates who meet the minimum qualifications for the Inspector I and Inspector II classifications. Both positions are a part of the Inspector Series meaning LUT can underfill the Inspector II position at the Inspector I level. We highly encourage anyone who meets either set of minimum qualifications to apply to fill our current position and any future vacancies!

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills; listening, speaking, and the ability to articulate complex information to other staff as well as to contractors and to the public. The successful candidate will have the ability to be a team player working closely with those on the inspection team, and follow Building Services procedures in and out of the office. They need to have the experience and capacity to read and interpret complex commercial structural plans.  They will also have the ability to self manage time, inspection route, and workload while working individually in the field. The ideal candidate is also open to learning and working with new technology and software that is required to complete inspections and record inspection results.

Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply for jobs unless they believe they can perform every job description task. We are most interested in finding the best candidate for the job, and that candidate may come from a less traditional background. If you are interested in applying, we encourage you to think broadly about your background and skill set for the role, even if you believe you do not meet all of the hiring criteria described above.
