The City of Warrenton, Oregon (population 6,462) is recruiting its next Building Inspector. Warrenton sits on the northwestern tip of the Oregon Coast in Clatsop County with borders from the Columbia River and the Pacific Ocean. Warrenton offers uncompromised forest, beach, river, and mountain beauty. The city is an active, rural community with a small-town feel a spirit of volunteerism. Its geographic location also offers easy access to other coastal area attractions and a 1.5-hour drive away from the Portland metropolitan area.
Under the direction of the Building Official, the Building Inspector is responsible for inspection and plan review services for all levels of residential, multi-family, and non-complex commercial buildings and structures for compliance with all applicable State of Oregon Specialty Codes and City ordinances, standard architectural/engineering practices, and fire life safety standards.
The Building Department is responsible for comprehensive enforcement of building, plumbing, mechanical, and fire and life safety codes of the State of Oregon. This division ensures that commercial and industrial buildings, residential dwellings, and public buildings such as schools and government buildings are constructed in conformance with all regulatory codes to ensure the continued safety and well-being of all members of the community.
The ideal candidate possesses and has demonstrated the following attributes:
A minimum of four years’ experience or formal training in construction management, architecture, engineering, building design, construction inspection, or other related field as well as Oregon Inspector Certification (OIC) and valid Oregon driver’s license are required. An associates degree in building inspection, drafting, fire prevention, or related field is preferred.

Compensation is $65,290 to $79,360 (DOQ) plus excellent benefits
