Job Requirements
The Oregon Commercial Plumbing Inspector conducts residential and commercial plumbing inspections and electronic plan review of plumbing plans while meeting our division’s guarantees and goals. The successful candidate will inspect all types and stages of plumbing installations and plans for compliance to the Oregon Plumbing Specialty Code and other related duties as required. The candidate will also respond to inquiries from the public and other city departments.

Job Location will be in Lincoln City or Florence Oregon, Potential Sign on Bonus of $5,000.00

The ideal candidate is a experienced plumbing inspector with people-oriented skills who can work independently, accomplishing daily workload goals while working with on-site customers.

Information on job responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily field inspections and re-inspections of residential and commercial buildings during the course of construction, alteration, or repair for conformance with code requirements.
  • Electronically review residential and commercial plumbing plans and specifications using Bluebeam software.
  • Complete inspection forms, prepare letters and notices of correction for remedy of deficiencies.
  • Investigate complaints of code violations.
  • Respond to inquiries from the public.
  • Other essential job functions as required.
  • Use proven soft skills to provide outstanding customer service to our jurisdictional clients and the public.

  • Position schedule is Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. but with the flexibility to alter schedules based upon work loads.

Minimum qualifications?

  • Must pass the pre-employment background check.
  • Must have an Oregon Driver license and meet the company driving standards.
  • Graduation from high school or trade school and two or more years of experience performing journey level (independent) work in installations, inspections, and code enforcement related to residential and commercial plumbing inspections and/or plan reviews.
  • Commercial Plumbing Inspector positions require: State of Oregon Plumbing Specialty Code Inspector (PI), State of Oregon Medical Gas Plumbing Inspector (or able to attain within 6 months of employment) and State of Oregon Inspector (OIC) certifications required (must maintain certifications during course of employment). SRI License for third party work within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications (Not required to apply):

  • Bilingual skills preferred but not required
  • Preferred additional certifications:
    • Residential Structural Inspector (CAS).
    • Residential Plans Examiner (CAX).
    • Residential Electrical Inspector (CAE).
    • Structural Inspector A-Level (SIA).
    • Structural Plans Examiner A-Level (PEA).


Whay are we looking for at NWCP:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the Oregon Plumbing Specialty Code;

  •  Ability to read and accurately interpret complex plans, specifications, and blueprints and to reconcile them while construction is in progress;
